Your day as a Housekeeping Manager

The Housekeeping Manager at Butterfield Trail Village plays a pivotal role in crafting an exceptional living environment for our residents. As a leader in our housekeeping department, you will oversee all operations to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Your responsibilities will include recruiting, hiring, and training a dedicated team of housekeeping staff, performing daily inspections of rooms and public areas, and ensuring outstanding service for all customers. You will also manage inventory levels of cleaning products and coordinate equipment maintenance while collaborating with other department heads to enhance the overall resident experience.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to excellence, and skilled at fostering a positive, collaborative work atmosphere. This role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Facilities.

Requirements for this Housekeeping Manager job

To excel as a Housekeeping Manager at Butterfield Trail Village, candidates must possess a diverse skill set tailored for a high-performance healthcare environment. Excellent customer service skills are paramount, ensuring that residents feel valued and attended to at all times. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required for effective documentation and reporting, while proficiency in inventory management and budgetary oversight-including labor management-is essential for operational success. Familiarity with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines, is crucial for maintaining compliance and safety standards. Additionally, candidates must have a solid understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, alongside their proper usage.

Strong communication skills are necessary, as the role involves cultivating positive working relationships with both staff and residents. A background of three to five years in Environmental Services or housekeeping leadership within a healthcare setting is preferred, along with a GED or high school diploma; some college education is a plus. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Strong working knowledge with inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of budgetary management including labor management.
  • Excellent ability to cultivate positive working relationships
  • Strong working knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies and the proper use.
  • Strong ability to successfully lead a diverse team.
  • Three to five years of Housekeeping experience.
