Job Description

Role

The Shift Supervisor-Utilities is responsible for oversight of the Utilities operations and supervision of the department hourly operators.  This role is suitable for recent graduates and experienced professionals.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the safety leadership for the employees on shift and support for the department & mill.
  • Position responsible for shift supervision of the Utilities Department. This includes supervising the operations of Recovery Boiler, Evaporators, 3 Power Boilers, 2 Package Boiler, 4 Turbine Generators, Well Fields, Water Softeners, Filter Plant, Wastewater Treatment, Demineralizer, and Ash Handling operation. This also includes water, steam, and power distribution systems.
  • Evaluate and provide guidance to training needs within the department.
  • Hold yourself, your team members responsible for their duties, behaviors, and actions.
  • Provides direct supervision of approximately fifteen (15) to twenty (20) employees assigned to the position’s rotating shift (southern swing).
  • Coordinates activities with other shift supervisor(s) throughout the facility.
  • Coordinates operations and maintenance activities.

 

  • Ensures all mill requirements for steam, electric and water are met within the constraints of safety, environmental mandates, and cost effectiveness.

 

Qualifications

Requirements

 

  • 3-5 years experience in a Utilities Department.
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, OR equivalent experience in a Utilities operation is required.
  • Must demonstrate pro-active skills in problem identification and developing solutions.
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and organize a group of people to accomplish those tasks.
  • Highly self-motivated.
