Pulp Mill Operations Manager

Pixelle Specialty Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pulp Mill Supervisor to join our team in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Job Summary:The Pulp Mill Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Pulping operation and supervising the Pulp Mill department operations' crews. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize safety and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the safety and well-being of employees on shift and support the department and mill in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Monitor and maintain environmental compliance, including understanding and complying with mill chemical safety precautions and knowing the hazards of each chemical utilized in the pulp mill.
- Manage operations to provide internal customers with all bleached pulp requirements in a safe, environmentally compliant, and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise approximately 12-15 hourly employees assigned to the rotating shift and track and monitor attendance to ensure adequate coverage of the operation.
- Initiate and enforce all systems, policies, and procedures, and maintain a working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Train, counsel, and provide disciplinary action, as necessary, within provisions of formal agreements between management and employee bargaining groups.
- Participate in production, safety, and other appropriate meetings, and hold self, team members, and all in the facility accountable for their duties, behaviors, and actions.
- Coordinate operations and maintenance activities, as well as daily communication with other shift supervisors and managers throughout the facility.
- Supervise the operations of the following units: Woodyard, Digesters, Chemi-washer/Brown Stock, R8 Generator, Bleach Plant, Kiln, Recaust, and Incinerator.
- One to three (1-3) years' experience in a pulp mill, paper mill, or comparable industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent operational experience.
- Strong computer skills and ability to handle confrontational situations.
- Must demonstrate problem identification and solution implementation, ability to handle multiple tasks, and organize a group of people to accomplish those tasks.
- Must have integrity, be self-motivated, and driven.
