Job overview


As our Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Director, you'll be the driving force behind our paid search marketing strategies. Your mission: boost our online presence, drive traffic, and skyrocket conversions. You'll craft and execute our SEM vision, collaborating seamlessly with our Technology, Pricing, and Product teams. Plus, you'll work hand-in-hand with our SEO and other Marketing teams to ensure every effort hits the mark.


We're looking for someone who’s not just analytically sharp but also a seasoned user of both internal and third-party SEM tools. You’ll be setting ambitious goals, tracking progress, and guiding your team to success. If you're passionate about SEM, have a history of delivering measurable results, and possess the leadership chops to elevate team performance and growth, then you might be the perfect fit for us


Here are the specifics:


  • Supervisory duties to include:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of SEM specialists
    • Assigning work
    • Addressing employee concerns
    • Hiring
    • Training and development of your team members
    • Completing quarterly performance reviews
    • Handling disciplinary issues
    • Approve timecards and time off requests
    • Manage budget
  • Develop and implement SEM strategies that align with the company’s acquisition and retention goals.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with Technology, Product, Pricing, SEO, and other teams for a holistic approach to paid marketing.
  • Plan and execute individual paid SEM initiatives, ensuring timely project completion and optimization to meet benchmarks.
  • Encourage pragmatic experimentation, identifying opportunities for improvement and A/B testing.
  • Manage a substantial SEM budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize profitability and meet acquisition goals.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate third-party search marketing solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain existing third-party integrations for efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and account management.
  • Document SEM strategies and technical specifications for projects with benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing on long-term Ecommerce marketing strategies.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats in the SEM landscape.
  • Stay informed about SEM industry trends, emerging technologies, algorithm updates, and best practices.
  • Provide regular updates to executive and director-level leadership on SEM performance, current state, and future roadmap.
  • Continually assess the SEM team’s structure and effectiveness, suggesting improvements and fostering dynamic growth.
  • Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize employee workflow, while continuing to meet our customers’ needs.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

While we do offer the opportunity for remote work, remote work may only be completed in Nebraska, Arizona, West Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, or Wyoming.
