We are seeking a Housing Counselor to join our Homebuyer Education and Housing Counseling team. As a Housing Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing education, guidance, and support to clients on various housing-related matters, such as default, pre-purchase, and rental assistance. Your expertise and assistance will contribute to helping individuals build their financial capacity and achieve their housing goals. This position will provide all types of housing counseling services and once certified, will provide Reverse Mortgage Counseling to help adults over the age of 62 understand the complexities of reverse mortgages so they can make educated decisions on their future. This position is highly rewarding and allows the employee to help and empower people on a daily basis.



In this role, you will:

  • Work with clients on a one-one-one basis to provide education, guidance and referrals tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
  • Perform housing counseling primarily for non-IHFA borrowers.
  • Conduct financial analysis and affordability assessment based on information and documents provided by the client
  • Implement loss mitigation techniques and comply with insurer requirements to prevent foreclosure and minimize losses
  • Respond to general customer inquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate assistance
  • Obtain the HUD Housing Counselor certification within 3 months of employment after that work toward HECM Certification.


Requirements:
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in residential real estate lending, residential loan processing, loan closing, loan servicing, or a combination of education and experience in related fields
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desired but not required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required counseling certifications
  • Experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling preferred
