Summary: Working as part of a team, the facility coordinator provides the day-to-day maintenance services to the clients in the Stockton Boulevard Safe Stay. The facilities include an admin building, case management building, dining building, laundry facilities, hygiene facilities, guard booth, and 155 (135 single and 20 double) cabins. This role requires skilled handyman with construction experience to make minor to intermediate level repairs on our various buildings to ensure client facility needs are met. Any duties not completed before the weekend; the weekend Facility CSA will complete. Clear communication is vital in this role, coupled with thorough knowledge of facilities operations and maintenance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Perform minor maintenance and repair in carpentry, plumbing and sewage (includes clearing of stoppage), and electrical to ensure client’s wellbeing.
  • Coordinate monthly inspections for pest control and rodent and rodent abatement throughout the facility.
  • Determination of whether a maintenance issue requires vendor support or can be done internally. This will require working with management.
  • Develop and maintain an approved contact and repair list of vendors and services, including electricians, plumbers, and any repair or maintenance services used.
  • Provide basic operation and be able to locate and shutdown systems such as lighting, HVAC, aquatics, fire alarm, water supply, electrical supply, and natural gas supply to ensure safety of the clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of the facilities and ground components.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and other safety equipment.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed by clients, staff, and visitors, which includes fire safety and emergency evacuation.
  • Safeguarding agency assets, including materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assisting with relocation of furniture, general clean-up at facilities to ensure the safety for clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain a professional workspace or office and help organize or tidy supply storage.
  • Participate as directed in emergencies including, but not limited to, fires, earthquakes, and gas leaks, and respond to ensure management is aware and that clients, staff, and visitors are kept safe during such incidents (e.g., shut off utility mains, help evacuate staff).
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment and communicating supply needs to Program Director.
  • Escalate to Management’s attention any observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of disabled individuals, dependent adults, and elder/senior citizens.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from clients and staff in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and safety drills.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary as assigned or requested by the Program Director.  


Supervisory Responsibilities: The Weekend Facilities CSA working in the shelter.

Education and/or Experience:

3 years Minimum Experience:

 In A Hands-On-Property Preservation Position, Performing Basic Maintenance And Repairs In Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, And Custodial Tasks.

And Knowledge Of, And Ability To, Safely Move Heavy Furniture And Equipment Without Injury, As Well As Custodial And/or Janitorial Practice In A Large Facility.


Language Skills: Independent and effective fluency in the English language. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  


Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiple and divide with 10s and 100s.  


Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  


Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of a computer or tablet and accompanying applications and software. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, and telephone.  


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA driver’s license, DMV record check, and proof of auto insurance are required.

 

Working Conditions: Ability to work indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. This position requires you to work holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

 

Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, climb ladders and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
