Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Tubular Repair Technician 1 to join our team. The Tubular Repair Technician 1 is responsible for preparing tubulars to get them back to a ready-to deploy state. Such duties include the refurbishment of Gap subs, Bit Subs, and the loading and unloading of the inspection bay. The Tubular Repair Technician 1 will work closely with all personal to ensure that the necessary timelines are met to support the upcoming needs of Operations. The position will also work closely with external vendors to get the necessary work performed on these tubulars that we currently do not perform in house. The Tubular Repair Technician 1 will also be responsible for the prepping and loading/unloading of these tubulars to various facilities.

The duties of this position also include the responsibility of creating shipping documents, uploading 3rd party inspection reports, and performing physical inventory counts in SDI's ERP system. The Tubular Repair Technician 1 must above all maintain and clean and safe work environment as Safety is at The Corner Stone of our Core Values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and Repair Tubulars to support Operations.
  • Safely operate heavy machinery including Forklifts, Overhead Cranes, Combi-lifts, and Break Out machines.
  • Organize shipments with 3rd party Vendors.
  • Organize shipments with SDI Operations (Districts)
  • Load and unload the Inspection Bay
  • The uploading of documentation for all tubulars including 3rd party inspection reports and material certs.
  • Communicating with Logistics when the requested items are ready to ship.
  • Ensure timely updates of inventory counts, materials, and equipment movements between storage locations and vendor locations in SAP.
  • Verify materials against documents for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Complete all the necessary requirements for handling hazardous material.
  • Prepare and deliver goods and tools to appropriate departments.
  • Pack material for shipping (boxing, banding and pallet wrapping.)
  • Operate forklift to load and unload pallets and oversize tubular/pipes into and out of trucks.
  • Complete all necessary safety requirements including Target 10, monthly Observations, and the attendance of all Safety Meetings.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business.

Education, Experience, Certification and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience shipping or Manufacturing environment.
  • Must be motivated and have ability to work in fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Adhere to established company procedures and policies including safety standards and company HSE policies and work schedule (overtime may be required)
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing all assigned functions and supporting other department needs.
  • Forklift experience and familiarity with packing techniques
  • SAP knowledge
  • Lean and 5S methodology experience
  • Corporate ERP systems. (SAP)
  • MS Office Word, Power Point and Excel

Work Environment, Physical Job Requirements and PPE:

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 45 lbs., perceive depth and operate a motor vehicle.
  • Conditions may include working inside and/or outside. May work around machines with moving parts and moving objects. Working near radiant and electrical energy. Working closely with others or working alone. Working extended or irregular hours and travelling by all possible modes of transportation.
  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computers and related equipment, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone and vehicles. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and able to show up to work on time, and when needed on "on call" weekend callouts. This is a team effort, and all members of the team are required to be present during normal operations, and when the weekend team is needed to support operations.
