Entry Level Bridge Engineer

GBA is looking for an energetic Civil/Structural Engineer to join our bridge team. Our bridge team works on a wide range of projects including bridge/structural design, rehabilitation, bridge inspections, bridge load ratings, structural construction observation, etc. As a bridge engineer at GBA, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects applying your structural engineering skills in a team atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform bridge and structure inspections in the field (could include some travel)

  • Create routine inspection reports for structural deterioration

  • Produce structural load rating calculations

  • Apply structural engineering concepts and detailing techniques to design projects

  • Follow standard bridge engineering/design procedures

  • Develop structural details using specialized software such as Microstation, AutoCAD or other Structural Design programs

  • Assist with geometric layout and quantity development

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in civil or structural engineering, or closely related field

  • EIT certification

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD preferred

  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software is a plus (Conspan, RCPier, Merlin, MDS, STAAD)

  • Previous internship experience is a plus

  • Excellent work ethic

  • Possess effective communication skills, both written and oral

  • Possess a positive attitude and commitment to quality

  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Available to travel for short periods of time (approx. 3 to 5 days a month)
