Overview

This role is responsible for building software and maintaining systems to support various aspects of the business, including DevOps, ProdOps, Security, Development, and QA. This position is responsible for working in a cross-function team to develop and implement real-world solutions that provide positive user experiences for every interaction.

This role requires accuracy, attention to details, and effective communication skills.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain production environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
  • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications.
  • Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and innovation.
  • Balance feature development, speed, and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as necessary to support production environments.
  • Guide junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Lead incident response activities, root cause analysis, and post-incident review.
  • Make critical decisions about infrastructure, tooling, and processes to support development and production.
  • Lead department projects, coordinate efforts, and drive improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.


Requirements:

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and Node/JavaScript.
  • Experience using one or more automation tools such as Serverless, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, etc.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excel at diagnosing complex issues and optimizing performance.
  • Broad knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Effective communication skills.
