Job DescriptionJob DescriptionGoldberg Montessori School (GMS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Extended Day Toddler Teacher to join our team This role is perfect for someone with a love of working with children ages 18 months to 3 years and who is committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest learners.

While prior teaching experience is a plus, we also welcome candidates with extensive experience as nannies or teaching assistants.

In addition, we very much welcome applications from individuals with a background in theatre, music, art, yoga, dance, or other creative fields, as well as in child development or psychology.

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 1:30PM - 5:15PM; Friday: 1:30PM - 4:30PM.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and engage children in various activities during extended day hours.
  • Change diapers and support children who are toilet training.
  • Observe and record events of each child’s day.
  • Play with children and ensure their safety, including outdoor play.
  • Lead circle time, sing, dance, read stories, and implement creative lesson plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a cohesive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s day and development.
  • Employ positive discipline practices to guide children’s behavior.
  • Maintain attention to detail and ensure a clean and organized classroom.
  • Take required professional development courses to remain in compliance with State of Texas licensing standards.
  • Attend professional development and staff development meetings (for which you will be paid), such as:
    • Teacher Work Weeks
    • Monthly evening staff meetings (typically 5:15pm – 7pm, once per month)
    • Occasional community events (which may take place after school hours or on Sundays)
    • Other community and staff events as required
Qualifications:
  • Passion for working with children aged 18 months to 3 years.
  • Experience in childcare, such as nannying or teaching assistance.
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with parents and colleagues.
  • Patience, a sense of humor, and a delight in working with children.
  • Creative and willing to be active and engage in imaginative play with children.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to get up and down off the floor rapidly and to be able to sit in and get up from small classroom chairs rapidly.
  • Familiarity with positive discipline practices.
  • Ability to be outside for extended periods, play actively, carry children (up to 50 lbs), and engage in various physical activities.
  • Creativity in carrying out lesson plans and coming up with new activities.
  • Interest in further professional development, potentially leading to Montessori certification.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they are assigned.
Other: Fluency in Hebrew is a plus (but not required).Education:
A bachelor’s or associate degree is preferred, but not mandatory.  Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
