Job Summary:

The Painter worker engages in the work and activities that repair and maintain all of Carillon Miami Wellness Resort facilities. This person performs preventive maintenance work that could involve the use and operation of complex and highly technical equipment and techniques. The painter exhibits sound decision-making skills, productivity and professionalism. Responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch-ups, and coordinating large painting projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Examine and maintain exterior and interior painted surfaces, and trimming and fixtures.
  • Remove previous paint by means of sandblasting, scraping, sanding, hydro blasting and steam cleaning.
  • Inspect and refurbish wall surfaces by means of appropriate materials.
  • Clean up job site after work and return equipment and tools.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Fulfill Carillon Miami Wellness Resort standards for service to guests, patrons and owners.
  • Comply with all Departmental rules, regulations, standards, dress code and appearance. Behave in a professional manner and demonstrate a friendly and caring attitude toward co-workers. Show prompt responsiveness when asked to do any task consistent with Carillon Miami Wellness Resort standards.
  • Responsible for PPE (personal protection equipment) use and daily maintenance.
  • Personally learn and comply with the Federal, State, Local, Hotel and Departmental Safety Regulations and Procedures.
  • Adhere to Carillon Miami Wellness Resort Facility Lock and Key policies and procedures.
  • Promote guest, patron, owner and employee safety and security through strict adherence to Facility Security and Safety policies and procedures. Eliminate hazards and/or safety violations. Know and be able to execute the proper shutdown and startup procedures for all utilities. Gain a working knowledge of the fire suppression systems and the fire/emergency alarm systems.
  • Must become knowledgeable about major and emergency equipment locations and operations (fire detection, fire suppression, emergency generator, departmental fire drill/response procedures, emergency HVAC operation, gas and water shut-off valves, main electrical disconnects, etc.).
  • Assure the maintenance of a working parts inventory of all parts needed for the department. Maintain and control the Tool Inventory to include proper securing, storage, use and function.
  • Painter workers are actively involved in their specialty skill in the repairs and maintenance of the facility and the conditions, equipment and devises therein.
  • Support the HotSOS work order system in implementation and adherence, including the prioritization of assigned work. Originate work orders to remedy problems and/or faulty conditions and assure the quality and timeliness of the remedial work.
  • Maintain open and professional communication between management and staff. Follow procedures in the use and maintenance of all communication equipment and devices.
  • Read, write and communicate instructional and other technical terms, details and concepts in the English language.
  • Support the facility’s Hazard Communication Program. This includes a thorough knowledge of MSDS, product labeling, storing and handling of materials etc.
  • Assist in execution and quality of the work assigned to the Engineering Maintenance team.
  • All activities, work, actions and time are documented in writing on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the motivation of employees toward the attainment of reasonable work goals.
  • Through individual effort and teamwork, employees will ensure that all guest, patron and owner contact is handled in a friendly and professional manner. We will be sensitive and responsive to their reasonable needs and requests while exhibiting gracious hospitality and personal care.
  • Perform other job-related duties as directed.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hotel/resort or directly related industrial or facility maintenance/painting required.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Be an Expert and have “Journeyman” certifications in one or more Facility Engineering disciplines and proficiency in all other aspects of engineering maintenance, as directed by management.
  • Must possess good communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with a variety of people.
  • The ability and experience to safely use power equipment and hand tools necessary to accomplish repairs and maintenance work.
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions and to lift, carry, push, and/or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
  • Physically capable of performing rigorous tasks including working from ladders, working beneath equipment, and in various conditions and settings are required for the normal performance of assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends.
