Overview:
The Engineer I is a skilled trade position.  Skilled trades include but not limited to HVAC and Paint.  The Engineer I will work closely with the Chief Engineer and Engineer II to schedule and complete various preventative maintenance projects in the specific disciplined as defined by the Annual Task Calendar and/or the RFR Plan.  This position requires expert experience and skill in specific discipline but is also required to have basic skills in other areas.  Skills include but not limited to basic repair, basic electrical and basic plumbing.  This role may also require to complete "shop projects" as assigned by the Chief Engineer. 

Responsibilities:
Level One

Responsibilities of Gold Key|PHR hourly Associates:

 

1.     Know your job.  Complete job skills training and possess a clear knowledge of the job, know property standards, listen attentively in Pre-shift and ask for clarification of assignments and expectations. Apply experience and training to accomplish tasks.

2.     Be on time.  Follow attendance guidelines and reports to work on time, and in uniform and follow clock in and out procedures.

3.     Be on stage.  Associates are friendly, approachable, and always willing to assist.  Associates must follow property personal appearance standards, is well groomed, in uniform and practices good personal hygiene

4.     Serve. Conduct yourself professionally and collaboratively with Guests and fellow Associates an in accord with the company’s service culture, “The Keys to Making it Right.”

5.     Work smart. Understand the needs of the shift, use resources properly, complete all assignment methodically and promptly without losing attention to details.

6.     Use your tools. Use the approved tools and checklists to complete assigned tasks.

7.     Measure Up. Associate produces work that meets the standards of the department in terms of volume and quality.  Associate meets goals and measures as defined by Department Leadership.

8.     Respect the space. Keep your work area clean and organized. Report any deficiencies promptly to your Supervisor.

9.     Be safe. Report unsafe work conditions or practices and safety or security violations in accordance with company policy.  

10.   Support the Team: Cooperate with other associates and supervisors striving to create a positive work environment. Support team efforts through carrying out responsibilities in a constructive and professional manner.

11.   Other duties as assigned. 

 

Associate Responsibilities specific for this role and Department:

 

1.         Perform duties of Engineer I, II as needed

2.         May be asked to answer prompt response guest calls and make necessary repairs

3.         Provide General "handyman" skills

4.         Electrical repairs and maintenance to mechanical equipment

5.         Order and receive materials related to assigned equipment and maintain orderly inventory

6.         Coordinate with Chief Engineer and Engineer II to plan and complete all scheduled equipment maintenance and projects as defined by the Annual Task Calendar and/or RFR Plan

7.         Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on all major equipment to include but not limited to:

a.         Laundry equipment

b.         Kitchen equipment

c.          Air handlers

d.         Pumps

e.         Motors

8.         Skilled Trade: HVAC:

a.         Has HVAC EPA Certificate

b.         Has PM Certificate R410A

c.          Repair and maintain all existing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment including troubleshoot and diagnostic skills

d.         Install newly acquired equipment (AC & Refrigeration).

e.         Relocate equipment as needed

f.          Coordinate outside assistance with AC/Refrigeration as needed

9.         Skilled Trade: Paint:

a.         Professional tradesman experience and/or certification as a Painter

b.         Maintain sufficient supply of Property approved paints, tools and supplies in paint closets

c.          Sets up work area for the day and posts signage for guest awareness prior to the start of work, if assignment is in a public area

d.         When painting interior surfaces, responsible for prepping the drywall and sanding wood finishes

e.         Exterior prep work will also fall under the painter's realm in terms of sanding metal surfaces, etc.

f.          All painting to be accomplished in a first-class workmanlike manner and in accordance with documented standard and specification.

g.         Responsible for maintaining all brushes, pans, rollers, tools and supplies in premium condition to maximize their useful life.

h.         At the end of each shift, responsible for a complete cleanup of the work site and to ensure that professional looking and proper signage is posted to prevent fresh paint from getting on guests and Associates

i.          Any paint, supplies or other materials that fall below the operating par level in any and all painting closets are to be noted and forwarded to the Chief Engineer who will enter same into the purchasing process

Qualifications:
ExperienceMinimum four years experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry or building maintence. Two years or its equivalent in trade school or training in building maintenance/construction. Must have basic knowledge of building mechanical systems and controls, energy management and building maintenance skills may require ability to drive pick-up truck and snow removal equipment.

ExperienceSignificant experience with all maintenance disciplines

SkillProfessional tradesmen certification in at least one discipline: electrician, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, etc

SkillAble to multi-task, organized within specific time frames

SkillDemonstrated positive attitude and work ethic practices in order to attain maximum operating efficiency while ensuring adherence to established guest satisfaction criteria.
