+ Position Overview

MxD is currently seeking an ambitious and talented Systems Integration Engineer. This position will report to the Manager, Systems Integration Engineering. You will become part of the team responsible for assessing America’s government-owned manufacturing facilities (known as the Organic Industrial Base “OIB”) for digital modernization, recommending digital manufacturing solutions, and communicating the future state of digital manufacturing to MxD members and partners.

The Systems Integration Engineer will meet with OIB stakeholders to educate them on digital manufacturing methodology and help scope and prioritize modernization projects at their facilities. They will be responsible for translating stakeholder needs into new project requirements for Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotations, as well as reviewing technical deliverables for new and existing projects at OIB facilities.

Candidates must have an understanding of areas such as control systems, networks, cybersecurity, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration. Ideal candidates will have experience working with the Department of Defense and other government stakeholders. As a research institution, MxD offers you the opportunity and flexibility to work on the frontier of the latest advancements in digital manufacturing technology

+ Position Responsibilities

  • Assess manufacturing operations and apply root cause analysis for modernization opportunities and recommend solutions
  • Create and update technical documents, including manuals, reports, and presentations
  • Aptitude to consult with members and government stakeholders on digital technology, especially for providing solutions to identified OIB opportunities
  • Provide digital manufacturing solutions to existing real-life problems as required
  • Generate project requirements for industry Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Participate in MxD and industry forums, webinars, and other venues related to digital manufacturing
  • Use of project management skills to track and report progress of projects
  • Interface with MxD commercial and academic members on project design and implementation
  • Continually investigate emerging technologies and maintain a future systems roadmap
  • Maintenance and expansion OIB proofs of concept installed on MxD factory floor
  • Provide tours of the MxD factory floor to OIB stakeholders

+ Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in engineering or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interface with the stakeholders of all levels at OIB facilities including floor operators, plant management, and uniformed military officers
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to the advancement of manufacturing technologies in the U.S.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Must be available to work onsite
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering software programs such as CAD
