POSITION PURPOSE:
Functions as a Physician Assistant in an out-patient primary health care clinic, serving the low-income, rural population, and those individuals with barriers to health care, of Douglas County. Under the direction of the Supervising Physician, the Physician Assistant assumes the responsibility of routine patient care including assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of injury and/or illness, and ordering of routine exams. Utilizes skills in providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems, along with providing care focused on health risk factor reduction. Ensures efficient and effective patient care through collaborative planning and problem solving with clinic staff and volunteers. Provides care consistent with policies and procedures of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants), with advanced preparation as a Physician Assistant; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current licensure in the state of Oregon as a registered nurse, with certification in the state of Oregon as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges.
- Holds current DEA license.
- One-year professional Advanced Practitioner experience in a clinic setting.
- Preference given to bilingual applicants.
AGE SPECIFIC CRITERIA:
- Has knowledge and skills to provide services within scope of practice which may include the following age specific groups:
- Neonates (birth to 1 year)
- Children (1 year to 12 years)
- Adolescents (13 years to 17 years)
- Adults (18 years to 64 years)
- Geriatric (65 years and above)
