The Finance team partners with our organization to facilitate the financial needs of First Orlando including, accounts payable, payroll, giving, forecasting, and data analytics. This team equips our organization with the tools and knowledge necessary to plan for, understand, and steward the resources provided through the incredible generosity of our people to accomplish our mission.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial operations of the Church including, but not limited to: financial analysis & planning, forecasting, budget control, revenue and expense reporting, and ensure proper accounting procedures are maintained by the Finance team
  • Assist the Executive Director of Administration on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and securing new funding
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Finance and Payroll teams
  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports
  • Serve as the point of contact for insurance and banking relationships
  • Be a liaison to ministry leaders; facilitating the business needs of church ministries, auxiliary ministries, and subsidiary entities and ministries
  • Analyze financial and non-financial data and provide analysis for reporting and planning
  • Evaluate and implement strong internal controls over financial operations to ensure proper safeguarding and accounting for all resources
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives and coordinate development of annual church budget
  • Monitor expenditures for proper approvals and adherence to church financial policies
  • Oversee cash, investment, and asset management
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions
  • Manage relationships with banks
  • Analyze financial risks and benefits of business initiatives
  • Stay abreast of the current financial trends and changes within the church and non-profit industries
  • Oversee and facilitate annual financial audit conducted by an outside CPA firm
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and technical regulations pertaining to financial/business matters, including the Department of Labor, IRS, and financial accounting regulations
  • Provide leadership and training to staff on budget and financial matters
  • Complete special projects and initiatives as needed and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • Strong finance-based analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, with expert-level Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of technology and systems including accounting, reporting, purchasing, payroll, expense reporting, donor receipt, and donor development systems
  • Strong decision-making skills combined with sound ethics and honesty
  • Competent communicator with the ability to present to large groups
  • 7 - 10 years' of finance experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required
