Job Title: Senior HVAC Service Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior HVAC Service Technician to join our team. With over 10 years of experience in the HVAC industry, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical expertise, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while managing complex projects independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of advanced HVAC systems, including high-efficiency air conditioners, furnaces, complex ventilation systems, commercial refrigeration units, Rooftop Units, Split Systems, Water-Source Heat Pumps, Air Handlers, and VRF Systems.
  • Expertly diagnose and troubleshoot a wide range of HVAC equipment failures and malfunctions, including issues with coils, motors, belts, boards, relays, actuators, and filters, providing solutions that extend beyond basic repairs.
  • Schedule and manage materials required to complete service projects and repairs, ensuring timely and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Installation of HVAC equipment, refrigerant pipe, control wiring, and control devices, with electrical knowledge as a beneficial asset.
  • Review and interpret equipment submittals, sequences of operations, and scopes of work; knowledge of blueprints and construction plans is advantageous.
  • Perform and oversee regular maintenance services, ensuring systems are optimized for maximum performance and energy efficiency.
  • Provide emergency repair services during off-hours, including weekends and holidays, focusing on minimizing downtime for clients.
  • Accurately record and report all service and maintenance activities, including detailed documentation of time spent, parts used, and professional recommendations for further action.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain advanced service options, system upgrades, and necessary repairs, ensuring they understand the value and necessity of the work being performed.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety standards and regulations during service, installation, and maintenance activities, setting the standard for junior team members.
  • Mentor and train junior HVAC technicians, sharing expertise and best practices to enhance the overall capabilities of the team.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving service efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team performance.
  • Lead, instruct, and assist junior mechanics and helpers in collaboration with the leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced vocational training or certification in HVAC is strongly preferred.
  • EPA certification (Type I & II or Universal) required; additional certifications or licenses are a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an HVAC technician, with extensive experience in both residential and commercial systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and repair techniques, with a proven track record of handling complex service issues.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple high-priority tasks, and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Possess necessary personal hand and power tools required for HVAC service work.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under high pressure.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
  • Frequent travel to job sites in and around Monrovia, MD.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, and potential hazards.
  • Must be available for on-call rotations, including evenings and weekends.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Pay: $40 - $55 per hour, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
