Supervisor - Passenger Bus Shuttle 

As the Passenger Bus Shuttle Operations Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing and managing the daily operations of our passenger bus shuttle service. Your primary focus will be ensuring the safe, efficient, and punctual transportation of passengers while leading a team of drivers and support staff. In addition to supervision, you will also actively contribute to the operational efficiency by driving the shuttle bus when required, showcasing a commitment to service excellence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Punctuality and Attendance: 

  • Report to work as scheduled, ensuring consistent and reliable attendance. 

  • Customer Service: 

  • Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service. 

  • Distribute and retrieve customer survey cards, and pass out literature for the City of Atlanta while engaging with customers in ground transportation. 

  • Driving Responsibilities: 

  • Drive a 14(+) passenger bus to and from management-designated locations. 

  • Operate the shuttle bus in a safe manner, adhering to speed limits and obeying all traffic devices. 

  • Vehicle Maintenance: 

  • Complete daily pre/post-trip inspections, notating damages or defects, and recording fuel level and mileage. 

  • Detect warning indicators on the bus and communicate the need for service to the Supervisor or Operations Manager. 

  • Driver Supervision: 

  • Supervise drivers, providing verbal and written corrective measures. 

  • Complete disciplinary forms as needed. 

  • Provide ongoing observations and training to all staff. 

  • Training and Onboarding: 

  • Ensure proper training for new hires to operate shuttle buses. 

  • Assess and address any areas of concern during the training process. 

  • Fueling and Bus Assignment: 

  • Fuel buses when instructed and turn in fuel cards once completed. 

  • Check the driver schedule and assign buses accordingly. 

  • Communication: 

  • Provide professional communication via radio with dispatchers. 

  • Follow instructions provided by dispatchers for staging or pick-up. 

  • Communicate the status of ground transportation and the need for a bus. 

  • Route Familiarity: 

  • Learn and follow several prescribed routes around the airport. 

  • Incident Reporting: 

  • Complete the customer incident form in the event of an accident or incident. 

  • Record Keeping: 

  • Complete passenger count forms daily. 

  • Technology Utilization: 

  • Utilize the Zonar Device for pre-trip inspections if the unit is equipped. Otherwise, use the Pre/Post Trip manual sheet for those units not equipped with Zonar.

Qualifications & Skills  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Education/Experience Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • License Requirement: Per DOT Regulations, you will be required to have and maintain a valid CDL Class A, B or C Driver’s License depending on the location's hiring needs, with Passenger Endorsement if you will be responsible for operating shuttle buses with a passenger capacity of 15 passengers or more. 

  • DOT Medical Card: A Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Medical Card) is required. 

  • Availability to Work: Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 3rd shift and/or week-ends may be a requirement. 

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on- one situations to customers and other employees of the company. 

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. 

  • Appearance: Employees must maintain a neat and clean appearance and be in complete uniform. 

  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Valid driver’s license. 

  • Clean driving record. 

  • Customer-focused attitude. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
