Benoist Brothers Supply Co. is a distributor of quality HVAC equipment and supplies to residential and commercial contractors with multiple locations over 5 states. We are looking for an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team at our Mt. Vernon, IL, location.

The Accounts Payable Associate is responsible for the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, issuing payments to vendors, and providing accounting and clerical support to the CFO as assigned. All work is time sensitive and generally managed through phone, email and/or fax.

Primary/Essential Duties

• Receives, verifies and posts vendor invoices into accounting records, reconciles vendor statements with account balances and accounting records;

• Facilitates payment of approved vendor invoices, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders and resolving discrepancies;

• Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed;

• Assist with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions;

• Prepares intercompany invoicing and record keeping;

• Other related duties as assigned;

• Take calls from vendors concerning issues with invoice payments.

• Work as a flexible team player to achieve accounting goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Knowledge

• 2-3 years' experience in accounting field, Associates in Accounting or related field preferred.

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong customer service communication skills through e-mail and phone

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

• Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records;
