Reports To: Construction Superintendent

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: 70,000-100k

Job Summary:

The Assistant Construction Superintendent will support the Construction Superintendent in overseeing daily operations on construction sites. This role involves coordinating and supervising subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining project schedules. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in Site Supervision:

  • Support the Construction Superintendent in managing day-to-day activities on the construction site.
  • Monitor work progress and ensure adherence to project schedules.
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure they comply with project specifications and safety standards.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and project requirements.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work progress, changes, and any incidents.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting daily reports to the Construction Superintendent.

Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact between the Construction Superintendent, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication to ensure project goals are met.

Resource Management:

  • Assist in coordinating the delivery and storage of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management or a related role.
  • Experience in commercial or residential construction projects preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions on active construction sites.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, as necessary to meet project deadlines.
