Note: This full-time position will begin July, 1 2024 (with training beginning June 17, 2024)


The mission of DC is to educate students who will serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action. The Director of College and Career Counseling works with our Upper School students as they prepare for their lives of academic and professional impact beyond DC. This role assists students and families with planning, course scheduling, testing, college and scholarship applications, and decision making. The Director will have familiarity with the American School Counselor Association (ACSA) National Model for school counseling programs and will serve as DC’s primary ambassador to colleges and universities.


Requirements:

  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a solid understanding of the Word of God.  There should be evidence of a godly lifestyle based on this commitment to Jesus Christ
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Five or more years of experience in College and Career Counseling preferred


Skills Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to servant leadership
  • Thorough knowledge of college search and application process
  • Ability to support, counsel and direct all students with regard to internships and post-secondary plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, follow-through and attention to detail
  • Ability to respond professionally to requests and concerns from internal and external audiences
  • Solid presentation skills in classroom and informational settings, with both students and adults
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and organize college fairs, college and career visits, planning nights and our college bus tour
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate
  • Familiarity with SCOIR a plus
  • AP and/or SAT/ACT test coordination a plus
