Description

Williams Consulting, LLC is seeking a dynamic Public Health Advisor to provide strategic guidance and expertise in support of a federal agency’s efforts in eliminating health disparities and promoting health equity through training and technical assistance to health centers in providing cancer screenings. This position will focus on strengthening health centers’ capacity to increase cancer screenings and improve equitable access to cancer care, research and awareness.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Model for Improvement, Lean, Lean Sigma) and best practices regarding health equity, access, and barriers to care in oncology and cancer screening
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations on content development for training webinars focused on health equity and barriers to care for cancer screening
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance for communities of practice focused on cancer screening topics
  • Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to advance health equity initiatives and share best practices in cancer screening
  • Contribute to the development and performance of virtual and onsite technical assistance visits to health centers to assist in best practices for cancer screening, prevention, and treatment, and financing or reimbursement for screening services
  • Contribute to development of research briefs addressing topics related to equity and access in cancer screening
  • Other duties as assigned

  

 Requirements and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in health equity, preferably within a federal agency or in federal contracting (experience with the Health Resources and Services Administration, HRSA, is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of health equity principles, social determinants of health, and disparities in healthcare access and outcomes, especially in relation to cancer screening and care
  • Knowledge of public health policies, practices, and systems that improves equitable participation in clinical trials and essential cancer care services across the continuum of care
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience in preparing technical reports, policy briefs and presentations.
  • Must be highly detail oriented with the ability to pivot to meet emerging needs
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Project) and Adobe
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and a positive work ethic in all situations
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities
  • Background investigation required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Standing, sitting, squatting, and other normal office-related physical activities are required. Must be able to sit and read computer screens for extended periods.
