Criminal Defense Attorney

One of East Tennessees largest defense firms is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney in Knoxville.The Criminal Defense Attorney will be responsible for representing individuals facing criminal charges and guiding them through the legal process. The Criminal Defense Attorney will be to provide exceptional legal counsel, protect our clients' rights, and work towards achieving the best possible outcome in their cases.

$80,000+ Dependent on Experience

Knoxville, TN

The Criminal Defense Attorney will be responsible for:

Representing clients in various criminal cases, including but not limited to drug offenses, DUI, assault, theft, domestic violence, and white-collar crimes.

Analyzing the details of each case, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assessing potential defenses to develop a comprehensive legal strategy.

Conducting extensive legal research to interpret statutes, case law, and legal precedents that are relevant to the client's case.

Appearing in state and federal courts on behalf of clients, presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and cross-examining prosecution witnesses effectively.

Negotiating with prosecutors to secure plea agreements or reduced charges, when appropriate and in the client's best interest.

Preparing clients for trial by organizing evidence, identifying expert witnesses, and strategizing trial tactics to present a strong defense.

Documenting and preparing legal briefs, motions, and other court documents necessary for each stage of the legal process.

Providing counsel and guidance to clients, explaining their rights, potential consequences, and legal options, and ensuring they are informed and prepared throughout their case.

Fostering strong attorney-client relationships by maintaining regular communication, addressing concerns, and providing updates on case progress.

Staying updated on changes in criminal law, attending legal seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

The Criminal Defense Attorney will excel with:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Admission to the Tennessee State Bar and in good standing.

Proven experience as a Criminal Defense Attorney, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant practice in criminal law.

In-depth knowledge of Tennessee criminal laws, procedures, and courtroom protocol.

Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Strong oral and written communication abilities to effectively present arguments and negotiate on behalf of clients.

Exceptional interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.

Ability to handle a high caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to maintain client confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Strong advocacy skills and a genuine commitment to protecting the rights of clients.
