The Program Director provides management and direct leadership, administration and supervision of assigned department/s. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Budget administration for all assigned departments.
- Hires, supervises, schedules and trains all staff and volunteers in assigned departments. Schedules staff using CYEDC approved scheduling platform. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in program. - Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines. Maintains accurate records for all programs as required by the YMCA.
- Understands and adopts the Team philosophy.
- Works closely with the Branch Director and Program Directors to ensure all program needs are met and effective communication occurs.
- Models relationship building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Attends clinics, workshops, trainings and meetings as required.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community. - One to two years related experience preferred
- Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
- Working computer knowledge and excellent communication skills.
- Completion of required trainings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
- Meet strength and lifting requirements.
- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
