Job Description

We are looking for a Product Design Manager for our OS Design team.

The Operating System (OS) team at Cash App takes a horizontal view of the Cash App. It is their responsibility to raise the ceiling of Cash App by defining and governing the overarching product experience, ensuring our customers experience a high quality, intuitive app. They do this through the definition of next generation experiences and creations and governance of CashOS. This team is part innovators, part systems thinkers. OS is an exciting environment at the center of Cash app’s future and we are seeking an imaginative and driven design leader to join our growing team.

This design leader will work closely with our leadership team, other designers across Cash app and cross functional partners to create world-class work. They will be expected to be both a maker and manager directly connected to what ends up in customers hands. 

As a maker, they will establish and lead direction on core product experiences, interactions and new features. They will work on all our core surfaces, partnering fluidly between stakeholders to drive direction and help build our OS systematically. They will ensure that the magic of the Cash App brand is felt through our product. They will push the boundaries of what we can achieve and help us create one of the best designed products in the world. You excel at providing direction and constructive feedback to achieve high levels of craftsmanship, ensuring high quality work while collaborating effectively with principals, senior partners, and leadership

As a manager, they will lead and scale a distributed design team for key work streams within OS. Guiding the careers and development of their team, ensuring the amplification and growth of team members. They will recruit a well-rounded team of designers, promote an inclusive environment for design excellence and growth, facilitate connections across teams and disciplines and product areas, influence the product vision at multiple altitudes and drive positive customer and business results. 

This position is full-time and available for remote in the US.

  • Systematic thinker: A deep penchant for systems thinking. Passionate about turning complex ideas, requirements and user needs into delight, scalable design solutions. 

You have:

  • 7+ years of experience in design management both leading and building product design teams of between 5-15 people.
  • Extensive experience working on teams that build own core experience with customers or zero to one projects 
  • Demonstrated impact on product strategy and user experience in previous roles, preferably within tech or financial services.
  • A portfolio showcasing experiences you’ve designed for varying platforms and devices (iOS, Android, Responsive Web, etc)
  • Encourage innovative approaches to design techniques, enabling the design team to embrace different angles to a design problem.
  • Outstanding UX capabilities and strong visual design competency, including visual, UI/UX, and systems-design.
  • A passion for an iterative process. You think fast on your feet, come up with solutions to important situations, are swift to make decisions and take calculated risks.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, as well as the ability to align teams and stakeholders around a shared vision.
  • A growth mindset, proactively seeking out opportunities to improve, always searching for new knowledge and ideas. You experiment, learn from failure, and iterate.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $228,700 - USD $343,100
Zone B: USD $228,700 - USD $343,100
Zone C: USD $228,700 - USD $343,100
Zone D: USD $228,700 - USD $343,100
