Job Title: Child Development Specialist (Tippecanoe, Clinton, Carrol, and White Co.)

Pay Range: $17.92-$20.16 hourly

Position Summary:

The Child Development Specialist assists the Professional Development and Inclusion Manager in ensuring services in Disabilities, Mental Health Consultation, and Kindergarten Readiness for enrolled children and families. This includes regular collaboration with Local Education Associations (LEA's), program staff, and families. This position also assists with the design and implementation of strategies that promote quality transitions from Head Start to Kindergarten.


Essential Functions:

  • Monitor timely completion of developmental and social-emotional screenings completed by staff and assist in the
  • communication of results with families.
  • Assist with internal and external referrals
  • Ensure adequate training and support of teachers related to children with IFSP's and IEP's
  • Provide support to teachers through attendance at case conferences, consultations and parent conferences as
  • requested
  • Monitor implementation of IFSP and IEP goals and services provided
  • Build relationships with families that promote understanding of their rights, their child's IFSP/IEP, and community
  • resources
  • Build relationships with community resource agencies that support children and families with disabilities and
  • mental health needs
  • Support the coordination of Mental Health Consultation services
  • Develop transition plans for individual children and kindergarten-bound families
  • Complete monthly reports and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Bauer Policies, State Licensing, and Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Attend scheduled IEP/IFSP meetings, site consultation meetings, team meetings, Professional Development days, All[1]Agency meetings, and Pre-Service training

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skill required. The individual must be able to successfully pass routine background checks.

Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • Bachelor's degree in early intervention, early childhood education, or related field.
  • Must have a valid Indiana driver's license and the ability to meet the minimum insurance requirements by the carrier at all times.
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Experience Required:

  • 2-3 years previous related experience

  • Commitment to serving children and families in poverty with the highest quality services
  • Willingness to learn and apply new knowledge
  • An eye for process improvement and ability to execute new strategies
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong connection with the community and ability to relate to parents of all backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organization and time management
  • Basic computer skills
