OBJECTIVE:

The Senior Research Associate is responsible for performing flow cytometry and other immunological assays in support of scientific investigations. This is a laboratory-based position responsible for conducting in vitro experiments in order to produce reliable and precise data. The qualified candidate should be familiar with a variety of general laboratory techniques that are supportive of the research outlined in approved protocols. The incumbent should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment.

  • Provide junior staff members with guidance on planned experiments, as well as technical training on new procedures.
  • Development of protocols and SOPs.
  • Support of laboratory operations including instrument operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with flow cytometry panel design.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to determine needs and develop/verify applications to support research.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS in direct field /certifications & completed studies in direct field, continued education courses.
  • 7 - 9+ years of experience in direct field.
  • 3 - 5+ years of flow cytometry experience with demonstrated experience operating a flow cytometer (any). Additional immunoassay experience (e.g. Luminex, ELISpot, ELISA) a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working with 12+ color panels.
  • Experience with data analysis, preferably FlowJo.
  • Experience working with pre-clinical samples. Experience with non-human primate/rodent samples is preferred.
  • Training/experience with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) techniques. BSL-3 experience a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Commitment to ethical scientific investigations and rigorous experimental methods.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific fundamentals and demonstrated aptitude for learning.
  • Adherence to standard laboratory techniques and safety precautions.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, adapt and standardize methods.
