General Description

The Cybersecurity Risk Analyst monitors and reports on security status using various security tools combined with analytic methods that correlate across systems to provide actionable information to IT and executive management. This position will lead initiatives to advance company-wide cybersecurity services and requires a high-level technical expertise to provide guidance on information security best practices. This role contributes to information security policy maintenance; assists with the design of security education, training, and monitors compliance with third-party suppliers, Valent IT Security policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Administers risk management program, threat management program, and supports the operations of various security monitoring platforms.
  • Supports Valent’s third-party risk management program by ensuring security controls are established and operating as intended.
  • Partners with technical teams, advising them both on security best practices and security solutions to align with organizational risk tolerance.
  • Perform security management functions by identifying risks, recommending mitigation activities, and driving remediation activities with stakeholders.
  • Supports the implementation and execution of IT security initiatives for Valent North America.
  • Ensures plans of actions and milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, etc.
  • Ensures security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.
  • Supports the Incident Response team by coordinating security incident response efforts including but not limited to; Triage, Containment, Eradication, Recovery, and Lessons Learned, and Recommendations affecting Valent North America’s information assets.
  • Assists in the development and upkeep of Information Security policies, procedure, standards, and guidelines.
  • Contributes to weekly security management reports including but not limited to, threat detections, compliance gaps, vulnerability exposures, and remediation activity.
  • Supports the culture of security across Valent North America by developing cybersecurity awareness communications, campaigns, and training courses to address high-risk areas and meet compliance objectives.
  • Supports periodic service continuity and recovery testing.
  • Assess emerging security technologies to determine where they fill gaps, overlap with existing solutions, or extend capabilities.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborates with managed security services provider in developing rules within the security incident & event management system (SIEM) and/or other security technologies employed by Valent North America.
Qualifications Technical Competency
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including risk assessment and management, threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and identity and access management.
  • Technical background or demonstrable understanding of a range of operational and IT risks and operations.
  • Understanding in securing hybrid, single, or multi cloud environments, leveraging cloud native tools as well as other 3rd party tools to establish a layered security approach.
Skills
  • Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies, with flexibility to handle multiple high-pressure situations simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to enable effective resolution of security events and identified risks.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range or people and roles, including vendors and IT business partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining security policy, standards, and procedures.
Educational, Training, and Previous Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of Information Security experience (10 years preferred).
    1. At least five years of “hands-on experience”.
  • Possess at least one of the following professional certifications:
    1. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
      1. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
      2. Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
