Recovery Navigator

North Suffolk is looking for a Recovery Navigator to join our Youth Elemento program Youth Elemento is a drop-in access center that supports young adults ages 16-21 located in Chelsea, Massachusetts. The Recovery Navigator is a mentor that has personal lived experience of substance use recovery. Recovery Navigators use their experience to build and establish connections with the young adults who visit our program. They provide, one-to-one, strength-based, peer-to-peer education, coaching, modeling, and guidance to youth who attend the Youth Elemento that are struggling with substance use, and/or a traumatic life experience.
We are currently offering a $3,000 sign on bonus for this position.
The Hours for This Position are:
- Monday: 9am - 5pm
- Tuesday: 9am - 5pm
- Wednesday: 10am - 6pm
- Thursday: 10am - 6pm
- Friday: 10am - 6pm
What You’ll be doing:
- Connecting Youth Elemento young adults struggling with substance use to recovery supports in the community.
- Host groups that inspire hope and recovery.
- Serve as a role model to encourage hope and foster motivation to young adults.
- Provide social and emotional support to young adults seeking to enter into or sustain long-term recovery.
- On-going trainings including the Massachusetts Peer Recovery Coaching training and Core elements training. All trainings are free and at the expense of NSCS.
- Be creative Share and implement daily and weekly programming within the Youth Elemento program.
- Participate in the facilitation of support groups and activities to further support healthy development and growth of young adults.
- Ensure that services delivered are provided in a professional manner, ensuring privacy, safety, and respecting the young adults dignity and right to choice.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
What you’ll need:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences OR
- Have a high school degree OR GED and have work experience with young adults/adults diagnosed with substance use and or dependency.
- A certificate from The Recovery Coach Academy preferred but not needed.
- Experience:
- Must be able to speak Spanish or Portuguese, please specify language in resume
- Must be a person personal experience living with and recovering from substance use.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have the ability to effectively engage transitional age youth.
- Must have experience and knowledge regarding addiction treatment service system, recovery coaching and other related human services.
