Job DescriptionAre you looking for an opportunity that will challenge you while you take the next step in your career and take our plant in the Kingsbury/Laporte, IN area to the next level? If so, this Plant Manager opportunity is for you. In this role, you will collaborate with the Regional General Manager & VP of Manufacturing to deploy manufacturing strategy through strong leadership of people and operations in the plant. Responsibilities will include:
- Develop plant staff to ensure all team members are at required levels of performance. In the areas of deficiencies, work with individuals to develop them, or make necessary changes to upgrade talent
- Manage using metrics and a proven management experience & process.
- Drive continuous improvement in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, Employee Relations, Customer Service, and profitability.
- Drive analytical problem solving using Organizational Excellence tools.
- Manage at a level that is removed enough to see the big picture and allow staff to grow while remaining close enough to the details to keep things on track.
- Develop and implement capital investment strategy.
- Build strong customer relationships to ensure an understanding of their needs while demonstrating a sense of commitment to them.
- Ensure complete Safety, Quality, and Environmental compliance.
- Manage plant P&L to ensure profitability while always doing “the right thing”.
- Create a plant culture of high sense of urgency, total employee involvement & accountability
- Drive true 6S culture in the plant
As the selected Plant Manager you will bring with you at least 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in at least three different manufacturing disciplines (Quality, ME, Maintenance, Materials, Customer Service, Six Sigma, etc) Additionally, you will bring with you. include:
- BS degree in Engineering, Business or other technical discipline or equivalent combination of experience & education.
- Minor in Business and/or MBA is strong plus
- Six Sigma Certification is strongly preferred
- Must have Front Line Supervision, or Production Management Experience.
- Must have strong financial acumen and worked in a role requiring a solid understanding of plant financials.
- Must have experience managing both hourly and professional employees, with experience developing talent.
- Experience in the metals and coil coating /service center industry a strong plus.
- Proven ability to drive root cause problem solving & counter measures.
- Have worked in a role that demonstrates ability to work under pressure and be tenacious in meeting goals and deadlines.
- Experienced in SOP/WI writing to ensure consistency and getting the job done.

- Great communication skills at all levels (hourly employees to the president)

- Must be able to develop and deliver presentations to employees, customers, and executive management.
- Strategic, yet practical with day to day business judgment.
- Financially astute operations leader
- Multi-disciplined (manufacturing, quality, sales, etc)
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word,AS400, databases)
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong work ethic (roll up your sleeves mentality)
- Ability to delegate, follow-up, and hold people accountable.
- Process driven and results oriented.
- Not afraid to take calculated risks, and a proven track record of success in evaluating risks.
- Must be a change agent that always seeks out best practices.
- Must be committed to ensure things get done during major outages to minimize downtime
- Able to bring ideas from concept to reality
- Willing to accept total responsibility for the entire facility
