The Estimator is tasked with analyzing costs to accurately assess the financial requirements for project completion or delivery of goods and services to clients. This involves conducting thorough research on material costs, transportation expenses, labor fees, and equipment expenditures.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cost analysis for materials, transportation, labor, and equipment.
  • Cultivate and manage professional relationships with contractors and vendors.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers and contractors within set deadlines, distribute bids among multiple parties to determine the most competitive option for estimates.
  • Evaluate project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Prepare and submit detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for project work.
  • Collaborate on contract bids and provide support to procurement team.
  • Monitor project costs at various stages to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Maintain updated information and communication in Salesforce, with consistent follow-up on proposal statuses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, estimating software, and Salesforce.com.
  • Capability to interpret architectural plans and create accurate cost estimates.
  • Strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and effective time management abilities.
  • Industrial or commercial background is helpful; Agricultural background a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, or another related field.
  • Training in estimating or project management with relevant work experience.
  • 2+ year of experience working as an estimator.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Walking short distances.
  • Bending, stooping or twisting.
  • Reaching above and/or below shoulders.
  • Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in person and/or on the telephone.
  • Requires exertion of force of 25 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and/or 5 pounds continuously to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
