Summary / Objective

Assists in the design and installation of electrical or electromechanical products or plant systems. Reviews the programmable logic controllers (PLC) programming and electrical wiring diagrams for new and used Injection Mold (IM) and Die Cast (DC) machines. Manage large IM and DC service projects.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews auto CAD electrical drawings, provides updates and revisions to original drawings.
  • Updates and revises electrical bills of material used for every service special project.
  • Assists with updates and revisions of logic and screens software.
  • Performs engineering evaluations and revisions associated with customer’s presses in office or at customer’s plant.
  • Supports the engineering staff with the designing and testing functions.
  • Provides support to the service department staff while in the office or onsite at a customer.
  • Supports the service team with product option design and validation.
  • Coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
  • Creates filing procedures and maintains engineering documentation related to drawings, electrical materials, and software programs for special projects.
  • Works with the service team to coordinate project timelines, work schedules and assigning project tasks to ensure machine deadlines are met.

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment as well as at customer sites. While working in the office environment, the position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While working at customer sites, this position is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts where the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to lift loads of 50 pounds and up, and be mobile enough to climb on or into machines.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Engineering
  • Five (5) years related experience and/or training
  • PLC programming – Allen Bradley and/or Mitsubishi
  • Electrical controls design experience
  • Combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience
  • Previous project management and supervisory experience.
  • 8 – 10 years related experience and/or training
  • Working knowledge of business and professional trends, current technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills directed toward diverse audiences.
  • Extensive knowledge of various programming techniques required to program computer systems.

Travel / Work Authorization

25% is required. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
