Job Description: IT Field Technician IT Field Technicians play a crucial role in building and maintaining telecom networks. Their responsibilities include:

1. Cabling Installation and Maintenance:

  • Running, pulling, stopping, and splicing copper and fiber optic cables (such as CAT5, CAT6, and low voltage cables) according to industry standards and client requirements.
  • Mounting telecom equipment while adhering to best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Installing support structures (racks, ladders, j-hooks) and switches based on data provided by various teams within the organization.
  • Setting up access control systems and surveillance cameras.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining video and data cables.

2. Client Relations:

  • Listening to client issues and resolving them promptly or escalating to senior staff.
  • Choosing and verifying cable pathways.
  • Conducting site surveys for clients.
  • Providing material and labor estimates to the sales team.

3. Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in both copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Installation of closet hardware (connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, patch panels).
  • Familiarity with signal flow, terminations, DSL, and Ethernet connections.

4. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 lbs (sometimes heavier).
  • Comfort working in small spaces and at varying heights (may involve climbing ladders).

5. Teamwork and Documentation:

  • Collaborating with colleagues and third-party contractors on cabling projects.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records for parts, tools, and supplies.
