Foundry Process Engineer

Position Overview: Seeking an innovative Foundry Process Engineer to develop, implement, and enhance manufacturing processes within our foundry environment. This role requires a collaborative and analytical individual who will be deeply involved in our casting processes and equipment operations, with a special emphasis on metallurgical support. Ideal candidates will have experience across various metals, although a background in iron foundry operations is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a safety leader, setting examples and standards on the shop floor.
- Master all critical foundry processes and equipment to develop and maintain control plans.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive manufacturing excellence and reduce variations in processes and products.
- Lead improvement teams, facilitating meetings and driving initiatives that significantly impact process optimization.
- Provide robust training and coaching, promoting the adoption of new techniques and principles among team members.
- Conduct detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis, especially for quality complaints, to develop effective action plans.
- Champion Lean initiatives, targeting waste reduction and enhancing overall value stream efficiency.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred; candidates with a technical degree and significant manufacturing experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a foundry dealing with various metals.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills within a metals manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with melt furnaces, solidification processes, and sand-casting techniques, including an understanding of sand properties such as permeability, compatibility, and moisture content.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification is an advantage; candidates without this qualification will be provided with certification training.
