Thomas Scientific, a leading distributor of scientific products and reagents, has an exciting opportunity for a high energy, team oriented, self directed, career-minded individual in our Forensics division which is located in Overland Park, KS.

This individual will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the forensics division, to ensure all processes, safety regulations, policy compliance and protocols are followed, and will oversee all aspects of the warehouse and kitting operations to ensure optimum accuracy, quality and profitability, and strives for continuous improvement of processes, procedures and training across the operations. Most importantly, this individual will maintain a presence in our facility and ensure that the culture of the company is conveyed and demonstrated consistently, and will lead the associates on the team to professional success and excellence

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides leadership, direction and accountability to all members of the operations team, resulting in a high performing and engaged workforce.

• Oversees the warehouse and kitting operations as related to order processing, fulfillment and transportation.

• Develops warehouse and production operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and order fulfillment; ensures applicable training of all associates is performed and recorded.

• Develops warehouse and production designs by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new procedures and equipment that may be required.

• Ensures ISO procedures and requirements are documented, implemented and monitored to maintain ISO 9001 certification.

• Maintains accountability for labor cost controls across the operations departments.

• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing safety standards and procedures.

• Pursues and develops new talent to optimize the performance and quality of the team.

• Develops and maintains relationships with select key customers and suppliers and works collaboratively with the internal Forensics Sales and corporate leadership teams to develop long range planning for distribution capacity and capabilities.

• Oversees purchasing of supplies and other indirect materials to ensure optimum quality and pricing.

• In conjunction with the corporate team, serves as the primary point of contact for the upgrade of the division’s current technology solutions to the corporate IT solutions (e.g., ERP, WMS and CRM).

• Ensures building facilities matters, services and repairs of assigned location are resolved in an efficient and timely manner.

• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, management, supply chain, or a relevant field preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in a distribution center or production environment.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, resolve problems and recommend viable solutions.

• Self-motivated and directed with the ability to complete assigned tasks with little supervision; high sense of urgency.

• Detail oriented and ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Positive attitude and the ability to handle challenges with maturity and diplomacy.

• Ability to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations and prioritize tasks and projects.

• Knowledge in all areas of regulatory agencies involved with OSHA, DOT, hazardous materials storage and other related matters.

• Demonstrated success in impacting profitability.

• Proficiency with computers and software applications including MS Word and Excel.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position will manage the warehouse and productions teams within the division, and provide oversight to the administration team members.
