Job description

At Chums, the Product Associate will work with the Product Development team to vet new product designs from the perspective of pricing, sourcing, timing and functionality. You will focus on scaling the business for future growth, while managing customer insights, line planning, and line management of current goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Request and review weekly WIP reports from vendors
  • Work with Design on sourcing and onboarding new manufacturers
  • Work with Design on sourcing and developing new fabrics and trims with a focus on integrating sustainable materials where possible
  • Work with Design to develop and maintain tech packs throughout the development process
  • Aid in development of new products in partnership with the Product Development Director
  • Maintain excellent relationships with vendors through frequent, professional communication
  • Analyze data to develop pricing models, and forecast product profitability
  • Research market changes and market perceptions and communicate about them cross-functionally to sales, and purchasing
  • Manage sample requests and organization throughout development process (including prototypes, wear testing and marketing/sales samples)
  • Resolve process issues and recommend ways to continually improve the interaction of team members and process efficiencies
  • Maintain a database of all product details, costing, etc.
  • Work cross-functionally to manage communication regarding timelines, due dates, costing and delivery dates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design and/or Product Development
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience managing soft goods or accessories line
  • Expert in Google Suite, especially Sheets and Docs.
  • Adobe Suite is a must
  • Technical skills and proven experience building tech packs
  • 3D CAD Capabilities
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize deadlines based on overall company goals
  • Effective Team Player
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • User/ Consumer level awareness of outdoor products
  • Self-starter influencing, persuading, and negotiating internally and externally
  • Continually monitor and report on the market landscape using competitive analysis and consumer insights to inform product decisions
