Summary Description:

The Occupational Therapist - Stepping Stones - Birth to Three Program (OTB23) provides early intervention services in the area of functional capacity, sensorimotor and perceptual development to children from birth to three years old. The OTB23 works with the trans-disciplinary team to develop the Individual Family Service Plan. The OTB23 follows through with additional evaluations and mandated documentation of Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) progress. The OTB23, working with the trans-disciplinary team, communicates evaluation results, goals and progress to parents/family and assists them with obtaining additional community resources as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Support HARC in advancing its mission by supporting its community and governmental advocacy efforts; demonstrating client care and respect in all interactions with clients and supporting activities that promote HARC's financial stability, including attending or otherwise supporting major fundraisers.
  2. Ensures services of Stepping Stones, Birth to Three Program are provided in accordance with current research and understanding of best practices.
  3. Performs assessments and evaluations on referred children to determine functional capacity, sensorimotor and perceptual development. Maintain appropriate caseload.
  4. Provides consultation service to trans-disciplinary team members including assistive technology needs.
  5. Acts as service coordinator for the family.
  6. Reviews IFSP goals set and determines that time frames for functional capacity, sensorimotor and perceptual development identified are realistic and achievable.
  7. Maintains detailed mandated documentation and individual case file throughout active case to monitor progress of goals established by IFSP.
  8. Utilizes Birth to Three workbook to facilitate a smooth transition from Birth to Three Program by working with parents to have a clear understanding of their child's strengths, needs and interest and comfortable discussing them
  9. Understands and informs parents about the special education law and specific procedures and practices of their local school system during transition. Facilitates a dialogue between school personnel and parents. Participates with parents in AFCAMP as needed.
  10. Attends designated meetings and training for HARC, the State of Connecticut and Birth to Three programs.
  11. Performs other duties as instructed by management.

Harc conducts background checks and verifies COVID-19 vaccination status as part of the hiring process.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and CT Licensed Occupational Therapist.
  2. May be trained in Part C regulations guiding the school system and how it differs from Part B.
  3. Strong understanding of trans-disciplinary/primary provider model/family centered practices,
  4. Service Coordination training is required.
  5. Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel for Windows and Ability to format and print documents.
  6. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  7. Must have reliable transportation.
