Financial Controller at MiCOM Labs - Summary

The financial controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the company’s future financial success and stability. Steward

  • Managing risk and preserving assets by ensuring internal controls are implemented and followed
  • Collaborating with external auditors to ensure financial reporting compliance
  • Ensuring that financial statements are accurate and complete

Operator

  • Overseeing day-to-day financial operations, including vendor set-up, invoice processing, payment remittance, accounting software record-keeping, and purchasing functions
  • Ensuring that financial processes are efficient and effective

Strategist

  • Guiding the direction of the company by providing financial insights and recommendations
  • Assisting in the implementation of accounting software and systems
  • Identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements

Catalyst

  • Putting in place processes and confirming execution
  • Ensuring compliance with external reporting and filing deadlines
  • Implementing changes imposed by external regulatory agencies

Additional Responsibilities

  • Managing cash flow, including forecasting and planning
  • Acting as an audit liaison, meeting with external audit staff, and implementing reporting changes
  • Monitoring internal controls, gathering feedback from audit personnel, and designing control functions
  • Approving invoices, ensuring proper resources are allocated, and minimizing financial risk
  • Assisting in budget preparation, providing data and information on historical spending
  • Ensuring financial compliance, understanding external reporting requirements, and overseeing the final product
  • Identifying cost savings, understanding operational efficiencies, and mentoring financial staff

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • At least 5-10 years of professional experience in accounting or finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills with focused attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience with accounting software and systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Task oriented and cautious with risk
