Vern Restaurant and Bar is a new and upcoming establishment, with our set opening date in April. We are actively seeking sous chef's who will thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicate time to expanding our clientele base to establish the restaurant's brand and reputation.

Job Description

As a Sous Chef at Vern Restaurant and Bar, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Head Chef in the daily operations of our kitchen. This position demands creativity, a high level of skill, and a passion for food and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in the planning and preparation of high-quality meals in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
  • Help in the development of menu items and recipe creation.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner that meets our quality standards.
  • Oversee and ensure that the kitchen and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on culinary techniques and best practices.
  • Handle any problems that arise in the kitchen and act quickly to resolve them.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or a high-performing line cook ready to step into a Sous Chef role.
  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
  • Team spirit, with a customer-oriented and professional attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and lead a team.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings.
