Job Title: Data Center Technician Level II

Job Summary: The Data Center Operations Technician owns the responsibility of all IT Infrastructure, including customer configurations, within the data center environment ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain % uptime.

Work Location: Onsite - Ashburn, VA

  • Work Hours: 7:30am to 4:30pm with some weekends. After hours on weekends. (Shifts may change - candidates asked to be flexible)
  • Duration: ASAP through March 2025 - potential to extend

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support using custom management software and ticketing systems.
  • Assign physical locations and IPs for customer configurations.
  • Install and configure customer hardware, including x86-based servers, operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat, Ubuntu, VMWare ESX), and network/storage devices.
  • Perform basic system administration, troubleshooting, and network setup.
  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling (CAT 5e/6, fiber) within data centers.
  • Adhere to security policies, health and safety standards, and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ensure timely, quality-controlled completion of customer configurations and installations.
  • Investigate and resolve customer incidents using root cause analysis.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Preferred experience with Dell, HP rack servers, Cisco firewalls, F5 load balancers, and network/storage devices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with 24x7x365 availability.
  • Strong written/verbal communication, proficiency in productivity software, and professional phone etiquette.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs overhead and have reliable transportation for occasional travel (2-4 weeks/year).

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma required; degree preferred.
  • Industry certifications in operating systems, networking, security, or storage technologies are a plus.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in hardware building/repair and customer service preferred.

Physical Demands & Travel

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs overhead and be available for flexible work schedules, including holidays and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation and occasional travel (2-4 weeks/year) required.
