The Tennis Court Maintenance Technician ensures the daily upkeep and optimal condition of tennis courts by performing tasks such as inspecting and maintaining nets, lighting fixtures, and court surfaces. This role also involves cleaning and preparing the courts for play, reporting necessary repairs to the Director of Tennis, and maintaining positive interactions with members, guests, and staff. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the tennis facility.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Inspect court daily and remove any trash or debris.
  2. Ensure the net and center straps are tight and set correctly; replace when worn.
  3. Inspect lighting fixtures and keep in working order.
  4. Level out divots.
  5. Keep boundary lines clean, square and tight; remove loose nails.
  6. Brush and roll the surface daily.
  7. Water court after play finishes for the day.
  8. Report repairs needed to the Director of Tennis.
  9. Maintain appropriate relationships with members, guests, and staff.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of tennis court maintenance, including net adjustment, surface care, and lighting maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks with precision.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to court maintenance.
  • Availability to work flexible hours as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds, such as nets and maintenance equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching as part of daily maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to handle tools, operate machinery, and perform physical tasks related to court upkeep.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Requires visual acuity to inspect court conditions and perform detailed tasks.
