NEXT for NEIGHBORS is a program of The Arc Westchester, created by Community Living Opportunities (CLO) and NEXT for AUTISM. NEXT for NEIGHBORS is a first-of-its-kind program in New York offering a unique approach to ensuring a life of dignity, choice and engagement for adults with autism and those with related developmental and intellectual disabilities.

A community living model, NEXT for NEIGHBORS combines the warmth and consistency of a natural home setting with highly individualized, comprehensive professional services, delivered and overseen by live-in professional staff. These services are designed to empower and teach adults to live as independently as possible.

The Arc Westchester is a leading non-profit provider in Westchester County, New York. We currently have open positions available for Community Living Support Professionals (DSP) to teach skills and maximize independence for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in a The Arc Westchester, NEXT for NEIGHBORS residence.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Teach skills and behaviors to maximize independence in activities of daily living and in a variety of community settings for a small caseload of persons who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and other special needs .
• Promote individuals’ health, wellbeing, and safety as well as their interests, rights and choices.
• Based upon the individuals’ needs and service plans, the NEXT for NEIGHBORS Community Living Support Professional provides training, guidance, counseling, direction, assistance and support to the individuals and advocates on their behalf.

Job Requirements:

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED, Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field is preferred.
• A valid NYS Driver’s License for a minimum of 2 years is required.
• At least one year experience working with children or adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. (One year of similar human services experience may be substituted, such as work in the fields of child welfare or mental health or alcoholism/drug misuse).
• This position also requires a Professional Family Teaching Model Certification obtained within 12 months of employment.
