As the IT Project Engineer you'll be responsible for managing and implementing multiple IT infrastructure projects for a wide variety of clients. These projects encompass various types of IT infrastructure, such as servers, networking, storage, security, email migrations, and virtualization across various organizations for our MSP Clients. In addition, the Project Engineer will assist in troubleshooting advanced technical issues experienced by the clients.

This position offers a hybrid work model, with three days per week in the office location (Winona, MN, Roseville, MN or La Crosse, WI) and the flexibility of two days per week working from home. This balance allows for both collaboration in-person and the convenience of remote work, ensuring a harmonious blend of productivity and flexibility. Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

  • Plan and execute Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 migrations.
  • Perform network infrastructure implementation and management of firewalls, switches, and wireless systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of network configurations such as VLANs, spanning-tree protocols, and routing.
  • Perform server upgrades and installations, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Proficient in Active Directory, Group Policy, File and Print Services, and Terminal and Remote Desktop Services.
  • VMware vSphere Virtualization deployment and migration.
  • Work with Storage Area Network Systems.
  • Ability to research and propose new solutions based on client needs.
  • Assist vCIO and Project Manager in solution and statement of work creation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed time and notes in the PSA.
  • Assist in technical troubleshooting
  • Documentation of project work to ensure the support team has all relevant information for support and troubleshooting

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the following areas:
    • in IT engineering
    • Experience of Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure
    • Experience with server virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
    • Experience of networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless
    • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Preferred Relevant IT certifications such as
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or higher
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must pose a valid driver's license.
  • Employment is based on ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday during business hours with occasional night and weekend work
