Key Responsibilities

Wiring

The mechanic is responsible for installing and troubleshooting electrical wiring systems in custom vehicles.

  • Wiring Installation: Identify and route wires logically and neatly, avoiding interference with other vehicle systems.
  • Component Wiring: Connect electrical components such as lights, gauges, audio systems, and engine management systems per engineering diagrams.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Verify the integrity of wiring connections through testing and resolve any electrical issues preemptively.

Plumbing

Tasks include the installation and maintenance of various plumbing systems within custom vehicles.

  • Fluid Systems Installation: Accurately install fuel lines, brake lines, coolant hoses, and other fluid-based systems following relevant safety standards.
  • System Testing: Perform pressure tests to ensure no leaks are present, verifying the reliability of all installed plumbing systems.
  • Replacement and Repairs: Identify, replace, or repair any malfunctioning plumbing elements efficiently.

Assembly

The mechanic will execute detailed assembly operations for various automotive components.

  • Component Assembly: Assemble engine components, chassis elements, body parts, and interior fittings per design specifications.
  • Fit and Finish: Ensure that all parts and components are installed with precision, meeting strict tolerances for both aesthetics and function.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed assemblies to ensure alignment, operation, and conformance to specifications.

Required Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of automotive electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Detail Orientation: Keen eye for detail to ensure precision during installations and assemblies.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently, under minimal supervision.

Workflows & Procedures

Step 1: Initial Assessment

Review the project requirements, schematics, and design plans. Consult with project managers and engineers to understand specific needs and customization details.

Step 2: Wiring Procedures

  • Preparation: Gather wiring tools, materials, and components. Label wires according to the schematic diagram.
  • Routing: Route wires through designated pathways, securing them with clips or ties.
  • Connecting: Solder or crimp connections between wires and components. Apply heat shrink tubing where necessary.
  • Testing: Use multi meters and other diagnostic tools to test circuit integrity.

Step 3: Plumbing Procedures

  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate hoses, fittings, and pipes based on the vehicle's requirements.
  • Installation: Route and secure plumbing lines, ensuring no interference with moving parts or electrical systems.
  • Sealing: Use appropriate sealants and thread tapes to prevent leaks.
  • Testing: Conduct pressure tests and visual inspections for leaks and durability.

Step 4: Assembly Procedures

  • Component Preparation: Clean and prep components for assembly. Verify all parts are available and correctly fabricated.
  • Assembly: Follow technical drawings to assemble the vehicle components. Use torque specifications where applicable.
  • Verification: Double-check alignments and ensure all bolts, screws, and fasteners are secure.
