What You Will Be Doing as a CNC Programmer:

  • Creates setup charts for manufacturing operations; routing for new parts; revises current routings and setup charts as changes occur. Processes engineering change notices and initiates required manufacturing.

  • Documentation: 

    • Create setup charts which include all necessary information for the performance of a manufacturing operation.

    • Create routing for new parts, showing the machines, tooling and processes in proper sequence.

    • Revise current routings and setup charts as required.

    • Process engineering change notices and initiate required manufacturing changes.

  • Methods: 

    • Determine manufacturing methods for new parts, considering existing equipment or requesting new equipment if necessary.

    • Improve current methods by studying current usage of manpower, machines, costs, time work place, material handling, work flow, part design and types of manufactured parts.

  • Solutions: 

    • Assists in the solutions of manufacturing problems.

    • Gains or possess knowledge of all machines and controls in the manufacturing area.

    • Create programs for new and current parts utilizing most suitable machines and tooling to complete process.

    • Collaborate with machines to achieve optimum use of machines and tooling.

    • Emphasize quality, simplicity of operation and consistency in programming methods.

 

What You Will Need to Have as a CNC Programmer:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in machine technology with emphasis in NC/CNC Programming or three to four years related experience in machining environment and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in programming CNC mills and/or lathes

  • Ability to use of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometer, depth micrometer, bore micrometer, and height gauges, etc.

  • Ability to read blueprint, and understand GD&T

  • Fanuc and Haas control panels knowledge

  • Setup fixturing and tooling (including machine offsets)

  • High degree of patience and attention to detail

  • Highly Preferred: Knowledge of hand G-code programming and/or Experience with Mastercam X8/NC-CAM 7/CNC mill and lathe

  • Must be able to follow safety policies and must be willing to wear PPE. All departments are required to wear eye and hearing protection, steel toed boots, and metatarsal guards.
