Exciting contract, potential contract to hire role for a Network Engineer in The Woodlands, TX

100% onsite role with occasional travel in TX and FL

**Candidate will have successfully passed a Background Check. Start date is contingent on client**

We are currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic client's team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Cisco router installation, configuration, and maintenance, with additional proficiency in Router Optical Network (RON) configuration. Experience with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and utilities is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco routers to ensure optimal network performance and security.
  • Configure Router Optical Network (RON) systems to meet the organization's networking requirements.
  • Take proactive initiatives to identify and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement network upgrades, expansions, and enhancements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in Cisco router installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Router Optical Network (RON) configuration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve network-related issues.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive projects to completion.
  • Experience working with ISPs or utilities is preferred.

Bonus/Desired:

  • Experience with Fortigate firewall configuration and management.
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with network security best practices and protocols.
  • CGNat expertise a major plus.
