Position Profile
Oakland Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Bible Teacher to join our faculty. As a faith-based, Christian institution, we are committed to providing students with a Christ-centered education that nurtures their spiritual growth and academic excellence. The Middle School Bible Teacher will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students can deepen their understanding of the Bible and its relevance to their lives. We value educators who are experienced in secondary teaching and possess a strong biblical knowledge combined with the ability to connect with and inspire students.
The Middle School Bible Teacher will report to the Secondary Principal.
General Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Effectively manage a classroom and discipline procedures to create a positive classroom environment.
- Regularly review curriculum
- Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grading records.
- Motivate and lead students to accept God’s gift of salvation, and help them grow in their faith.
- Ensure the classroom reflects a professional and Christian environment.
- Have knowledge of curriculum, standards, and mission.
- Participate in Professional development through professional reading, college course work, in-services, and Leadership workshops.
Administration
- Have the ability to accomplish goals and objectives assigned by school administrators.
- Understand supervision and how to lead in a positive manner.
- Maintain a physical presence with the students by attending weekly chapel.
- Participate in beginning of the year staff orientation, daily devotionals, staff meetings, and parent/teacher conferences.
Personal Characteristics and Skills of Applicant
- Demonstrate personal traits of enthusiasm, integrity, flexibility, and punctuality.
- Develops and maintains good communication with students, parents, and peers.
- Is a Christian role-model reflecting good moral conduct
- Growing in personal relationship with Christ.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Must be able to demonstrate a successful career in teaching, spiritual formation, and event planning.
- Must be able to excel at developing collaborative relationships with all school groups.
