My team partners with an exciting manufacturer between Rochester and Buffalo that is actively growing in all phases of its business.

This tremendous organization is seeking a Product Engineer to focus on product lines, design, analysis, quality, resourcing, continuous improvement, and more

1. Resource management (material and people)

a. Communicates with shop staff, QA/QC inspectors, and engineering staff on a daily basis.

b. Interacts with customers to deliver first time quality.

c. Engages leadership team in setting and achieving goals. This includes working with key leadership both functionally and strategically to drive overall improvements inside and outside of engineering.

d. Plays an active role in product design/development including review of technical details, design for manufacture (cost effective and manufacturing process compliant) and design for test (efficient manufacturing test ensuring product quality).

2. Resource scheduling, output management and reporting

a. Ensure open communication throughout the organization by keeping management informed of Project status and ensuring coordination of Lean activities.

b. Create metrics, deployment goals, and objectives to drive accountability throughout the project team.

c. Organizes, plans, reviews, and provides status of projects managed.

d. Engage in product requirements definition and reviews.

e. Participate as reviewer in the design review process.

3. Continuous Improvement

a. Identify, review and develop product improvements.

b. Confers with management to establish continuous improvement goals/objectives and overall direction.

c. Identify areas with other functional leaders, employees, and customers to develop significant lean opportunities for improvement throughout the organization.

d. Chairs meetings and process improvement teams.

4. Equipment & process maintenance

a. Development and maintenance of methods for measuring progress to ensure that project goals, objectives, and metrics are being met and maintained.

5. Professional Development (self and reports)

a. Models operational excellence, visibly demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.

Qualifications: 

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required. 

Education and Training

· Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Experience: 

1-15 years

Other: 

· Must be willing to work overtime as required.

· International travel may be required.

· Domestic travel may be required.

· Local travel may be required.

· Minimal travel may be required


Requirements 

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: 

1. Must have proficiency in MS office applications including spreadsheet, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software. 

2. Ability and willingness to abide by set policies and/or safety programs established by GHM, our clients, and/or regulatory agencies which govern our performance and behavior in the normal course of our work while on GHM or the client’s property or job site. 

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

12. Proficient in engineering application software such as Autodesk Inventor; the ability to learn analytical software such as ANSYS, CFX, etc. 

13. Maintain a collaborative relationship with internal and external stakeholders. 

14. Demonstrates recognition of organization’s requirements for the highest quality product with the most efficient utilization of labor and materials: consistently achieves schedule goals; displays initiative, focus, and sense of urgency; demonstrates flexibility in discharging multiple/changing priorities.

16. Identifies and addresses potential safety issues including product testing related hazards at customer facilities, which are related to equipment and office area safety.

18. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

19. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

20. Demonstrates pride in workmanship and commitment to continual quality improvement; maintains clean, organized work area; maintains accurate and timely labor reporting; makes improvement based on lessons learned; maintains strict adherence to quality system requirements.

22. Strong reasoning ability required to allow assessment of a broad range of customer requirements. 

23. Ability to successfully plan, self-direct, and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules. 

24. Proficient in math including algebra and geometry for first level engineering calculations and pricing models required. Additional skills for engineering modeling desired. 

25. Sound engineering judgement required to support customer-consulting tasks. 

26. Customer Relationship Skills to establish technical scope, requirements, and technical corrective actions. 

27. Ability to operate cross functionally within the organization and drive product improvements throughout the process. 

28. Experience reading technical drawings desired with a drive to be detail oriented and willingness to learn specification requirements. 

29. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 

30. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis. 

31. Listens and gets clarification; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; writes clearly, correctly, and informatively; ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; maintains confidentiality. 

32. Proficient in presentation and communication to non-finance functional groups. 

33. Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 

34. Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills are a must. 

35. Ability to solve practical problems in a timely manner whilst dealing with a level of ambiguity. 

36. Must be detail oriented with ability to maintain a strategic outlook. 

37. Proactively identify problems and collaborate with management on implementing possible solutions. 

38. Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and learn new skills.

42. Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence. 

43. Have basic knowledge of GD&T principal and working knowledge of a variety of machining processes. 

44. Team skills, working with machinists and project engineers to develop, maintain, and improve processes are very important.
