Description

Elcora Engineering Solutions is looking for a Lead Distribution Engineer to join our Distribution Team. This position will provide engineering and design services on 4kV through 34kV overhead and underground utility distribution projects.

This position requires the ability to handle multiple projects, clients, and to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities / assignments may include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers/designers.
  • Perform technical review on engineering and design.
  • Perform conventional /complex engineering calculations for facilities study, voltage drop, equipment sizing, pole loading, etc.
  • Full understanding of full project life cycle.
  • Design distribution facilities utilizing client standards / NESC standards including overhead and underground distribution facilities including but not limited to distribution equipment installation, feeder / cable replacement, line extension, voltage optimization, distribution automation, and fiber optic installation, etc.
  • Prepare proposals and engineering / project cost estimates.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Preparation and development of both overhead and underground distribution work packages utilizing GIS, CAD, Work Management Systems (WMS) and multiple client systems.
  • Responsible for handling field work / engineering / design / drafting of deliverables from simple to complex projects.

 

Knowledge / Skills

  • PE license strongly preferred or currently pursuing
  • Strong knowledge of overhead and underground construction specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution systems and design
  • 5 years + of experience engineering / designing overhead and underground distribution projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which includes verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt and modify standard techniques, procedures and criteria's.
  • Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and construction standards
  • Experience with GE SmallWorld and ESRI ArcGIS/ArcFM
  • Experience with Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, Asset Suite, Maximo, and Hyperion etc.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and comfortable working in both field and office setting.

 

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college / university, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
  • EIT – engineer in training required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Completion of
  • Master’s degree in related field can be substituted for 1 year of experience.
  • Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering and leading a team.
  • Selected candidate must work from Chicago suburb office.
