POSITION SUMMARY:

The Software Developer I is responsible for maintaining and enhancing custom built applications that support all areas of RSR Group’s business processes. This position works with the business units to define user requirements and employs the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes of analysis, design, testing and implementation to ensure quality products are delivered.

REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, installs, and tests software components.

Analyzes code to find causes of errors and implements fixes to the existing code base.

Designs and codes screen layouts, reports, and system interfaces.

Handles basic issues, problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Creates test data and performs extensive unit testing to ensure programs meet specifications as well as implementation of a quality deliverable.

Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding issues or questions about a particular feature.

Installs programs and performs post-mortem verification on production server.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.

A firm grasp of modern web languages, including HTML5 and CSS3.

Experience with: Python (Django), JavaScript, JQuery, SQL/MySQL. Experience with React.js is a plus.

Adequate knowledge of Relational Database systems, Object Oriented Programming, and Web application development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires an undergraduate degree in a related field. Substantial experience and knowledge in IT can replace the educational requirement. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Software Developer I must be able to manage multiple priorities and have strong organization and analytical skills. Other requirements include coding experience, knowledge of Linux as well as Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
