Job DescriptionJob Description

The ideal candidate is someone who brings positive energy and creative ideas to oversee all aspects of discipleship of children from birth through 5th grade. We are seeking someone dedicated to building meaningful relationships with children and parents while helping children grow in their faith and develop a lifelong commitment to Jesus Christ. This is a part-time position that anticipates approximately 15 hours a week, which includes Sunday mornings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create programming that will help children grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Prepare and lead Sunday morning activities (Children’s Church and Sunday School).
  • Cultivate community in Children’s Ministry by establishing regular communication with parents and the greater community regarding Children’s Ministry activities through email, Facebook, and other appropriate channels.
  • Plan and execute Vacation Bible School during the summer.
  • Collaborate and support the appropriate committees with the recruitment of volunteers for the Children’s Ministry and with the planning and executing of community events, such as Spring Festival, Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat, and Breakfast with Santa.
  • Show financial responsibility in operating the Children’s Ministry budget.
  • Attend meetings (Church Council, etc.) for special reports as asked by the Senior Pastor.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Organizational Relationship and Supervision

  • The Director of Children’s Ministry reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
  • This individual will be a visionary and an advocate for the Children's Ministry and will supervise both paid and volunteer positions within, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children within our church and our community, while adhering to a Safe Sanctuary policy.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be a committed Christian who has relevant experience working with children in group settings.
